What Have You

After publishing my last post “Back From Outer Space“, I got sick again. The article was written at 4am and starting at 6am, I was vomiting every 5-10 minutes. This lasted for 12 hours and almost dehydrated my body to the point that I cannot even stand up straight and life my own  weight. I have hyperacidity and I believe the sickness was triggered by me drinking cold water at 5am with an empty stomach. At 6pm, Jen rushed me to the hospital and was immediately injected with an IV + vitamins.

Mathe told me in one of her emails that it’s good that I’m “back from outer space”. She’s probably right. It took a while before I even got into the rhythm to update this blog (more than a month). My last blogging hiatus between May-June was so far the longest in my recollection. I have to admit that at some point I wanted to really say goodbye to blogging and start a new life without thinking about my online tasks but here I am again. Old habits really die hard, dudes.

One of the most popular tourist destinations in Baguio City is Mines View Park. Although I could say that I’m used to the scenes there, there are certain moments when I just can’t get used to the feeling of being on top of a mountain overlooking some houses below and being close to the clouds. Baguio City is not only known to many Filipinos as the Summer Capital of the Philippines. In fact, most Pinoys from the North know Baguio City as the Ukay-Ukay Capital of the Philippines. Everywhere you go, it’s almost impossible not to see an Ukay-Ukay store inside a building or along the sidewalks.

I might not be able to go online for a day (again) because my wife and I are going to Baguio City. This is in view of her application for a professional license (Registered Nurse). I did not want us to go there during the Holy Week because of practical reasons. Baguio City is overcrowded during the Lenten Season and government offices are closed.

For those who are planning to file the same application as mentioned above, here is the Philippine Regulation Commission (PRC) requirements. Yesterday, Jen took her oath as a professional nurse (finally!) and there were some firsts in the event. For one, it was the first-ever oathtaking ceremony held in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte. Prior to this, all nurses’ oathtaking ceremonies have been conducted in Manila. This obviously saved many parents a huge sum of money. Travel, food and accommodation expenses have been defrayed because of the localized setting.

Morgellons Disease is still pretty much unknown today even in the medical community. I first heard of this Morgellons Disease in 2007 from Allen Galapon, a good friend of mine who has an experience as a Nursing assistant. He was, at that time, looking for rare diseases and called me one day to drop by his place to watch a video he found on Youtube. We watched a few related videos on Youtube dealing with this disease (an unknown nasty worm species actually) whose origin cannot be explained by scientists up to this day.

The Salmonella Bacteria scare makes it a bigger news with recent developments in the food processing business. This time, experts claim that Pistachio Salmonella is on the loose! Salmonella bacteria can be found in raw nuts, reports show.

On Philippine TV last week, Planters Pistachios were recalled from shelves. In the US, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recalled Planters Pistachios, Setton Pistachios and other pistachio brands processed by some of America’s biggest companies due to possible salmonella bacteria infection.
